In this video, the moment generating (MGF) is defined.  Its utility for finding the moments of a distribution is presented and illustrated.  Following two examples, the use of the MGF for equating distributions is presented.  Finally, the convergence of MGFs implying the convergences of cumulative distribution functions is presented and illustrated by showing that the MGF of a binomial distribution converges to the MFG of a Poisson distribution.
